Framed letter accepting the resignation of Conductor Sam Longbottom in 1874

Letter on headed paper from Black Dyke Mills, Queensbury, July 15th 1874.

Sir,
We are very sorry to receive, after a duration of nearly 20 yrs. your resignation of the conductorship of our band, accepting which, we do with reluctance , but we presume that other business precludes you from continuing your valuable instruction which we have so much appreciated and which we feel to have been of great service in securing the success of our band on many occasions. We thank you heartily for your attention through so long a period. You will always be remembered by us.

Signed by Sam Longbottom, Ovendon and John Fosters Mills
